A word from our pastor...
Assorted fallacies that uninformed and undiscerning people believe when they leave their outward association with biblical truth for the Catholic Church, in no particular order:
1. That the early church fathers are reliable teachers due to their proximity to the apostles.
2. That the early church worshipped like the Catholic Church does today.
3. That there is an unbroken and undisputed line of succession from the apostles to the Pope today.
4. That church unity means there should be one and only one external religious organization ruling over professing Christians throughout the world.
5. That a parallel line of oral tradition was handed down from the apostles with equal authority to the written Word of God.
6. That the early church always recognized a supreme pontiff seated in Rome.
7. That Peter was the first Pope.
8. That Catholic apologists are truthful.
9. That individual Catholics can speak on behalf of the church when they contradict formal church doctrine.
Friends, for a more systematic refutation of Roman Catholicism, please see my series “The Bible and Roman Catholicism” (links to come in the comments). I meticulously cite official Catholic documents on matters such as the mass, tradition, the Pope, Mary, purgatory, and salvation, then refute it all over the course of about ten messages.
I need to put it all in a book. I don’t know if the Lord will grant me the time and grace to do so. But the content is out there in audio and video format.
And to those who have accused me of misrepresentation and disputed this material in the past: I stand 100% behind every point and assertion I made when I taught this material nearly 10 years ago, so help me God.
