Unshakeable Joy Because of Who God Is
The sovereignty of God is crucial part to your unshakeable joy. That God has ordained everything that comes to pass, and that He is working all things together according to His perfect will and for the good of His own children (Romans 8:28) offers sure comfort to the believer in every circumstance.
Yet the character of God runs deeper than His unfathomable sovereignty. His magnificent attributes provide the full foundation of our hope in Him. Consider briefly the following attributes of our Lord: His immutability (Hebrews 13:8), His power (Psalm 62:11), His faithfulness (Lamentations 3:23), His grace (Ephesians 2:8-9), His goodness (Psalm 136:1), His patience (2 Peter 3:9), His mercy (Psalm 145:8-9), His lovingkindness (Psalm 25:6), His righteousness (Psalm 145:17), His justice (Romans 12:19), and His holiness (Isaiah 6:3).
Dear Christian, meditate on God’s character and consider who He is. If you do, you will find that there is no cause for anxiety, grumbling, or discontent in your circumstances.
Consider this great, eternal, thrice-holy God whom you serve. Consider all that He has created and ordained from before the foundation of the world. Consider His merciful, forgiving, generous grace, by which He has promised eternal life to those who repent and believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ.
Finally, consider the blessings that await those who belong to Christ!
“Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:1-3).
You will see Christ face-to-face and be with Him forever. That future glory is the grounds for unshakeable joy now.
